What happens when Wifi is turned off is that it is only relying on one piece of information instead of two to locate the device. Why does it make a difference if Wifi is turned off?įind my iPhone makes use of the inbuilt GPS and your Wifi when determining the location. The image with the large green circle around it was taken after we turned off Wifi on the device. It’s a six story office complex and the phone was placed in an office without any direct line of sight to a window. In the example above this iPhone was inside our office. The larger the green circle the more approximate it is. I can't thank these developers of this App enough.Essentially it means that the iPhone’s location is approximate. Just by having the screen shot would have confirmed it was the person I confronted and they denied it.Īt least we got the phone back. It could be done as it emailed us when the phone had been tampered with and the route they had taken to dump the phone after being confronted. Speaking from experience, an idea to the developers would be great if when the person that 'finds' the phone presses the main button it takes a screen shot of the person and emails it direct to the iPhone that's trying to find it. Proof is in the pudding and with out this app we would never had got her phone back. It emailed us the tracks it had taken and the route it had been. Within an hour I had found the phone and had it back with my partner. I used the 'find my phone' app on my iPhone. My partners phone was stolen the other day. WiFi-only devices must be connected to the Internet via a registered Wi-Fi network to be located.
